Bamboo Hills Architecture Competition Submission
Submitted "Bamboo Hills" to an international bamboo architecture competition, aiming to raise awareness for sustainable design.
Introduction
“The World Bamboo Organization (WBO) is a diverse group consisting of individual people, commercial businesses, non-profit associations, institutions, and allied trade corporations that all share a common interest = BAMBOO. The purpose of the WBO is to improve and promote this common interest, as well as the conditions affecting, and the industry surrounding, this common interest. We are dedicated to promoting the use of bamboo and bamboo products for the sake of the environment and economy.”
“Bamboo Hills” is a competition submission for the Architecture division of the WBO. The structure was formed as an open, adaptable, well-lit and clean area for numerous activities to take place, similar to a giant Pavillion. I worked on the entire production, from design the treehouse and rendering in Keyshot, to the final presentation.

Inspiration
The idea was based on two big influences:
- Ronan the Accuser’s Ship – An elegant form made from progressively rotating a simple shape; premiered in the 2014 film adaption of The Guardians of the Galaxy
- The Wine House – Santiago Calatrava’s beautiful piece that mimicked the terrain it was surrounded by.
